I am so enamored with today's featured shop! Scarableu offers phenomenally unique and mesmerizing illustrations, which - to me - evoke a surreal and magical interpretation of everyday life. Elizabeth Sullivan, the creative mind behind Scarableu, is a Montreal native and has this to say:

CM: Tell us a bit about yourself...
ES: I was born and raised in Montreal, french is my first language but i am bilingual (english) as alot of Canadians also are.
I have always loved drawing and art. I started out on the walls of my house moved on to the notebooks of my teenage years and now i use proper canvas paper like a proper grown adult ;) ( okay to be honest, i still use old recycled computer paper very often)
I have a background in computer graphic design but i quit even thought the money was good because i prefer to use my creative time to draw all the weird magical things i see in everyday life rather than retouching sports pictures. (No offense to the sports picture retouchers intended).

CM: When did you start drawing? Did someone teach you?
ES: I started pretty much by myself but i have to say picture books really inspired me, also the TV show Reading Rainbow when you would learn how to draw an underground martian world, man, i was blown away by that part of the show. My babysitters were also really talented and they would draw us ANYTHING we requested.

CM: What inspires your artwork?
ES: I am really inspired by everyday people I cross on the subway on my way to work. I love unusual faces, weirdly proportioned bodies, uncool hairdoes. I also love nature shows, especially on bugs and plants, they are so crazy, their shapes and colors, unbelievable!

CM: When do you find the time to work on your art? What's your workspace like?
ES: I draw at work, although i am not supposed to...i draw on weekends, draw at night, just anytime i feel the need to...draw.

CM: What's the best thing about selling on Etsy? The most challenging?
ES: I loooved the activity button!! i am obsessed with it, i love to see who likes my prints, it gives me an instant boost. I also spend a lot of time browsing other artists shop, i am totally inspired by other people's work.
one of the challenges is to keep my shop up there in the searches, promoting it is definitely something i am learning how to do...

CM: What's your favorite item in your shop right now?
ES: I really like my frabbits print. The new :SHHH hush there little frabbit print for example ..but I have to say my heart belongs to Maude the odd girl with the dragonfly, I really am in love her.

CM: Do you have a favorite shop or item on Etsy? If so, which one(s)?
ES: Too many to remember but I will say the ones I can think of right off the bat:
